Fear

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself- nameless unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance." Franklin Delano Roosevelt

When it comes down to it, I believe that fear is the creation to most social anxiety. The fear of losing your job, the fear of a terror attack, the fear of another economic crash, the fear of getting an exotic diseases, in my opinion fear=anxiety.  Social anxiety was always here. If you look at past generation people had their own set of problems. For instance, the 1920’s was the great depression, the 1940’s was World War II, and 1960’s was the Vietnam War, the breaking of families, and the red scare. As one can see each set of past generations had their anxieties to worry about.
Media is the source of fear. I mean did you know that research shows that we are the safest human alive? You probably didn’t because the news never focuses on the positive. Just to let you know we’re stronger, healthier, and livelier than our past ancestors. Don’t believe me? Well tell that to your great grandfather whose age expectancy was 50 years old. Your age expectancy is around 80 now, but it will probably go up because of technology.
The media instills fear into people. Every day, they focus on murder, terror attacks, economic crashes, sexual assaults, and pedophiles. Never do you hear about the good notes like the recent job creation. Why? Because that’s not as “interesting” as a bank robbery gone wrong. The constant reminder of things going wrong causes fear. Consequently, it promotes social anxiety.
Okay sure, there is an economic crash, but look at it this way we are WAY better off now then back then. I mean seriously, open your eyes people the world isn’t a horrible place. Crime rates are decreasing, diseases are being cured, and the economy is slowly recovering. Live life, social anxiety is barely anything in this world. If you guys still don’t believe me read the Science of Fear, and hopefully it will make you see that the world is a decent place to live.
